Let’s Get Dressed: 5 Outfit Ideas for the Week

New week. New outfits. Same closet.

I AM SO EXCITED for this week because these prompts are simple, wearable, and full of little style lessons you can use again and again.

That is the whole point of Let’s Get Dressed.

It is not about copying every outfit exactly. It is about giving you one simple place to start so you can walk into your closet with more confidence, more direction, and a whole lot more joy.

Because getting dressed should not feel like standing in front of a closet full of decisions.

It should feel like opening the doors to possibility.

This week, we are talking about waist definition, classic color combinations, scarves, travel style, and one of my absolute favorite things to teach: day to night dressing.

Watch the full video below, then use the breakdowns as your guide all week long.

This Week’s Outfit Prompts

Monday: Belt a Top

One belt can completely change the shape of an outfit.

This is such an easy way to define your waist, adjust proportions, and make a simple top feel more intentional. Try it with a blouse, tunic, button-up, cardigan, or even a simple tee.

And here is one of my favorite little tricks: if you want the front of your outfit to stay clean and simple, turn the belt around and wear the buckle in the back.

You still get the shape without adding too much detail in the front.

Style lesson: A belt is not just an accessory. It is a styling tool.

Tuesday: Black & White

If mixing outfits feels overwhelming, start with black and white.

This is one of my favorite combinations because it is classic, timeless, and almost impossible to mess up. When the color palette is simple, you have more room to play with texture and pattern.

Try stripes with florals. Lace with denim. Linen with leather. A crisp white shirt with a black pant. A black dress with a white jacket.

Black and white gives you structure, but it also gives you freedom.

Style lesson: A simple color palette makes creativity feel easier.

Wednesday: Scarf as a Belt

You are going to love this one.

A scarf as a belt is such a fun way to add color, pattern, softness, and personality to an outfit. But the secret is choosing the right fabric.

If your outfit is already thick or bulky, choose a lighter scarf that ties easily. If the scarf is too heavy, too wide, or too stiff, it can add volume where you may not want it and make the outfit feel messy instead of intentional.

The goal is to add interest, not bulk.

Try it with jeans, trousers, a skirt, or even over a simple dress.

Style lesson: The fabric matters just as much as the idea.

Thursday: Travel Style

Travel style is not just about looking cute at the airport.

It is about choosing pieces that are comfortable, practical, washable, and useful once you arrive.

Before you choose your travel outfit, think about what your clothes are going to touch. Airplane seats. Airport floors. Luggage. Public restrooms. Crowds. Long car rides. Hotel lobbies.

This is why I love travel outfits with a little structure, light layers, and pieces that can be worn again at your destination.

Think about a jacket you can wear to dinner, pants that do not drag on the floor, a scarf or wrap that keeps you warm on the plane and works with another outfit later, and shoes that are comfortable but still polished.

The goal is simple: washable, wearable, and re-wearable.

Style lesson: A great travel outfit earns its place in your suitcase.

Friday: Day to Night

This is one of my signature ways to dress because it is how I travel, how I get dressed, and how I move through real life.

You do not need a completely different outfit for every part of your day.

You need strong base pieces and the right accessories.

Start with one piece you love — a simple dress, a great pant, a clean top, or an easy outfit foundation. Then change the feeling with your shoes, jewelry, bag, belt, jacket, or lip color.

Casual accessories can make the outfit feel relaxed and easy for daytime.

A heel, a stronger earring, a clutch, a belt, or a more polished layer can completely shift the same outfit into evening.

Same base.

Different energy.

Style lesson: Accessories are not an afterthought. They are what give your outfit direction.

How to Use This Week’s Prompts

Do not overthink it.

Choose the prompt for the day, walk into your closet, and look for one place to start.

One belt.

One color combination.

One scarf.

One travel piece.

One base outfit.

That is all you need.

These prompts are not rules. They are invitations.

Take the idea, make it your own, and let your closet surprise you.
