RUNWAY TO REALITY
Let’s Play Dress-Up
When did getting dressed stop being fun?
When we were little, we played dress-up. We mixed things together, tried something unexpected, and wore whatever made us feel fabulous. We were not worried about whether we were doing it “right.” We were creating.
Somewhere along the way, many of us stopped playing. We started reaching for the same safe outfits, saving our favorite clothes for a special occasion, and walking into our closets already convinced there was nothing exciting to wear.
This week, I want you to play again.
MONDAY: Add a pop of color to brown.
Brown is a beautiful neutral, but it does not have to feel serious or predictable. Add pink, red, turquoise, green, lavender—whatever makes you happy.
Look at your brown pieces and ask yourself: What would make this feel more like me?
TUESDAY: Add a necklace to a summer dress.
A summer dress may already feel like a complete outfit, but one necklace can completely change it.
Try something bold, colorful, layered, or unexpected. This is your reminder not to simply put on the dress—play with it.
WEDNESDAY: Wear something you have not worn yet this summer.
Find the piece that has been hanging there waiting for its moment.
Before you decide it does not work, style it differently. Change the shoes, add a belt, roll the sleeves, or pair it with something unexpected.
Give it one fabulous chance before summer is over.
THURSDAY: Wear a matching shorts set.
A matching set does all the work for you. It instantly looks polished, intentional, and pulled together.
Wear it as the full set, then add a great shoe, a little jewelry, and your personality.
And remember, the best part is that you can split the pieces up later and create completely different outfits.
One set. So many possibilities.
FRIDAY: Cut something.
Before you panic, I am going to show you what I mean!
A T-shirt, button-down, or pair of jeans may be one little cut away from becoming something you are excited to wear again.
Sometimes the clothes in your closet do not need to be replaced. They simply need a fresh perspective—and possibly a pair of scissors.
This week is not about creating perfect outfits. It is about opening your closet with curiosity instead of frustration.
Play with what you own. Try something you normally would not. Make yourself laugh. Make yourself feel fabulous.
Because getting dressed should be fun.
